Introduction[]

Chachapoyas is the capital of the province of the same name, and is tucked in the midst of the Northern Peruvian Andes. Its location makes it the perfect base to explore the surrounding region. Yet, the lack of a functioning airport (the airport just outside town has been closed for many years) make it much less accessible, leading to much fewer tourist arrivals considering the surrounding sights.
