Introduction[]

Trujillo is the third largest city in Peru after Lima and Arequipa, and is the largest city in the North of the country. Not only does it have a collection of archaeological sites around it, it also boasts some of the best colonial architecture in Peru.

Although Trujillo has a number of tourist attractions that warrant a visit, not that many foreign tourists actually venture there.

The city is located at the banks of the Río Moche, near its mouth at the Pacific Ocean. It is about 830 kilometres North-Northwest of Lima.

Trujillo has a dry climate with an average temperature of 21°C. The summers can reach temperatures over 32°C and the winters are never colder than 14°C. Most of the year, the temperature stays in the low to mid twenties.

Trujillo is known as La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera (The City of Eternal Spring), because of its sunny and pleasant weather year-round. The International Spring Festival in early October attracts visitors from all over Peru and the world.

Getting There & Away[]

Trujillo is served by Aeropuerto Internacional Capitán FAP Carlos Martínez de Pinillos, about 12 kilometres East-Northeast of town. It has regular connections to Lima on LAN Perú, TACA Perú and Star Perú. Star Perú also has flights to Chiclayo.

Trujillo is along the Pan Americana Highway, which makes land transport easier with other parts of Peru. Buses travel to Lima as well as most other locations in Peru.
